From the EndNote website:
"While this is not strictly necessary, we always recommend that you uninstall any previous versions (including Demo Versions) to avoid confusion later.
1. First back up any existing EndNote library files and any customised content files (e;g; styles, connection files, and filters).
2. Close all open programs, and then uninstall any older versions:
Windows: Open the Control Panel >Programs and Features (Windows 8/7/Vista) or Add/remove Programs (Windows XP).
Mac: Click the EndNote menu and Select Customizer.Click uninstall and then remove the EndNote folder.
3. Once any older versions have been uninstalled, run the new EndNote installer.
This will create a new EndNote program folder and you can then move any backed up library or content files in the this new folder. More information is available from the EndNote LibGuide.
