When you write an assignment, it is very important to acknowledge the source of anyone else's ideas that you have used or mentioned in your work. Plagiarism occurs when you present the work of another person or people as your own, without properly referencing the source. Plagiarism is a serious accusation in academia.

You need to reference any direct quotations, facts and figures, as well as the ideas and theories that you use.

Important information about referencing is available from the Referencing LibGuide.

The Learning Centre also provides extremely useful information on Academic Integrity, including tips on referencing.
